A standard website can usually be completed in 4–8 weeks. Larger projects with custom features, multilingual support, or e-commerce integration will take correspondingly longer. We’ll determine the exact timeline together during the planning phase.

How is a professional corporate website actually created—from the initial idea to launch? Many of our clients have asked themselves this question. In this article, we’ll take you behind the scenes and show you how a typical web project unfolds at NET.THINKS—transparently, step by step.
Table of Contents
Phase 1: Getting to Know Each Other & Briefing
Every project begins with an in-depth discussion. We want to understand: What makes your company unique? Who are you trying to reach with your website? What goals—more inquiries, better visibility, a more professional image—should the new site achieve?
In this phase, we’ll work together to clarify:
- Target audience and user expectations
- Competitive landscape and unique selling propositions
- Functional requirements (forms, online store, multilingual support, etc.)
- Budget and timeline
The briefing forms the foundation for everything that follows. The clearer it is, the more precise the result will be.
Phase 2: Concept & Architecture
Based on the briefing, we develop the information architecture: What pages does the website need? How are they linked to one another? Where is the content located?
At the same time, we decide on the technical setup: CMS selection (TYPO3, WordPress, Shopware), hosting, security requirements, and basic SEO structure. This phase may sound unspectacular—but it’s crucial. Mistakes made here will cost significantly more time and money down the line.
Phase 3: Design & Prototype
Now things start to take shape. Our designers create mockups —first as wireframes (rough sketches of the page structure), then as high-resolution design drafts. Colors, typography, visual language: Everything is tailored to your brand identity.
Before a single line of code is written, you’ll see what your future website looks like and how it works in an interactive prototype. Changes during this phase are easy and inexpensive to implement.
Our tip: Make the most of the feedback phase. Show the prototype to colleagues or even select customers—fresh eyes often spot what you might overlook yourself.
Phase 4: Development & Integration
The prototype is technically implemented. Our developers set up the CMS, implement the design with pixel-perfect accuracy, integrate the desired features (forms, interfaces, tracking), and ensure that everything works seamlessly on mobile devices, loads quickly, and is accessible.
At the same time, the content phase begins: text, images, and other content are added—either by us or by you, the client, via a simple content management system.
Phase 5: Testing, Acceptance, & Launch
Before going live, the website is thoroughly tested: on various devices and browsers, with real users, and from a technical standpoint (load times, SEO, security). Only when everything is in order do we migrate to your live server.
We’re not gone after the launch: We’re here to answer your questions, provide training for your editorial team, and are available for ongoing maintenance and further development.
